As part of activities marking our Wooden Jubilee, IFS is rolling out a new television programme – Conversations with IFS which starts airing from 15thApril 2018 on GH One Television and Starr FM Radio in collaboration with EIB Network.
The programme will feature prominent economists, business executives, diplomats, academics who will look at various aspects of development in Ghana and Africa in the contest of fiscal management. The Executive Director of IFS, Prof. Newman Kusi, notes that through this weekly Sunday series, Conversations with IFSwill provide the platform for rich and insightful discussions on economic management and development issues.
The programme’s first season of twelve episodes runs for one hour each from April to June 2018 and is curated by the development specialist, lvor Agyeman-Duah, author of Pilgrims of the Night: Development Challenges and Opportunities in Africa. The programme host is Dr. Jemima Nunoo, an international relations expert and university lecturer in business development.
The inaugural episode will feature the following personalities:
– Prof. Ernest Aryeetey, distinguished economist and former Vice Chancellor of the University of Ghana. He will trace the fiscal history of Ghana in the last sixty years.
– Dr. Ishmael Yamson, former presidential advisor and chair of the Ishmael Yamson and Associates
– Dr Emmanuel Akwetey, Executive Director of Institute for Democratic Governance (IDEG). He will discuss government and fiscal management of local administration.
– Mr. Kwesi Obeng, West Africa Advisor on Equality for Oxfam lnternational. He will examine budget allocation and the basis of inequality.
The subsequent editions will feature Dr Anthony Oteng-Gyasi, former President of the Association of Ghana Industries, Dr. Anthony Akoto-Osei, former Minister of Finance and currently Minister for Monitoring and Evaluation, Dr Nii Moi Thompson, former Director-General of the National Development Planning Commission and many more others. Special episodes in the series will feature His Excellency John Agyekum Kufuor, Hon. Dr. Kwabena Duffuor, former Governor of the Bank of Ghana and former Finance Minister, and Dr. Kwesi Botchwey, former Minister of Finance and Economic Planning.
